What is the area like around the property?

The property is situated near the foothills of the Pyrenees providing outstanding views from our hamlet of La Pouche. The hamlet itself is situated on a ridge (D3) with fields (often growing sunflowers and wild orchids) and hills to the north-west and a wonderful forest full of birds and wildlife (deer and wild boar) to the south-east. This small hamlet is home to about 50 people being part of the commune of Salerm.

Scenic drives along the D3 (this country road is marked on maps in green, emphasising that of natural beauty) provide panoramic views of the Pyrenean mountains and rolling countryside, take you to the local shops and schools (L’Isle en Dodon, Boulogne-sur-Gesse, Aurignac, St Gaudens) and larger towns further away (Auch, Toulouse, Tarbes, Pau). Skiing in the Pyrenees is fantastic with Bagneres de Luchon, St Lary, Peyragudes and Bacquiera all within one to two hours drive.

What is the weather like?

Living slightly north of the foothills of the Pyrenees ensures that you are living in a warm micro-climate, and therefore not being affected by the weather system within the mountains themselves.

The weather is in this area is generally warm/hot from spring to autumn, with wet days usually around April and August. Winter can vary, but little snow is seen on the ridge (we leave that to the mountains!).

The temperature of the pool depends largely on how clear the nights are (on a cloudless night, it loses much more heat than on a cloudy one and whether you choose to put the summer cover on), but the water temperature can reach 30-31°C at the height of the summer.

How long have you lived at La Pouche?

We moved to La Pouche in the summer of 2003 to embark on this wonderful renovation project.

Where do we go from here?

You have looked at this site in detail and you are keen to find out more...

...the next step is to come and meet us and see our property at La Pouche for yourselves!

If, having seen the property, you decide that you would like to proceed, then the next step would be to have a Compromis de Vente drawn up by a Notaire (lawyer). This is a formal contract for the purchase of the property, and the Notaire will ask you to pay a deposit of 10% of the purchase price when you sign it. Completion of the sale normally takes around three months (due to the amount of land with the property). So if you are genuinely interested in buying our home, please telephone us now on (outside France) 00 33 5 62 99 81 01 or 00 33 5 62 00 13 77 or (within France) 05 62 99 81 01 or 05 62 00 13 77 to arrange a visit as soon as possible and speak to a member of the Wiberg family!
